Another reason is so they can get custody of the billion if he won. So, he's not in a very nice place to chat with his parents if he loses. anyway, he wanted to join TDS for the money, fame, and hot chicks. As long as he has his peeps, he can win the game. That's why he instantly became friends with Michael, and tried to become friends with Robert, but never got on his good side. Robert could see right through his idiotic game he was playing.
